Arshad has 17 years of in-depth experience in financial markets and media out of which 10 years of experience is in the GCC financial markets. He served as Board Member of Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) for five years after which he was the CEO of Bahrain Financial Exchange (BFX). Arshad played a key role in successfully establishing DGCX and BFX. In these years, Arshad gained diverse expertise in the complete financial markets eco-system and the technology behind it. Being at the helm of several financial exchanges, right from their inception, has provided him detailed insight in areas of technology, operations, product development, regulations, marketing, and business development. Although he is a finance professional but marketing, communications and brand management have always been his passion. To pursue his passion further he founded Semantics Global Media in Dubai Media City in June 2014.

Dr. Garbis Iradian (Institute of International Finance)

Dr. Garbis Iradian is currently the Chief Economist for the Middle Eastern Department at the IIF. Previous to the IIF he worked for 17 years at the International Monetary, Washington DC. While there he held the positions of senior economist and senior advisor to an Executive Director where he monitored and assessed macroeconomic and financial developments of several Middle Eastern and Central Asian economies. The IIF is the global association of financial institutions with more than 450 members worldwide. Dr. Iradian received his MBA from the American University of Beirut and his PhD in Economics, with emphasis on macroeconomics and econometrics, from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He has published several articles and working papers on MENA economies and determinants of growth.

Ashley Freeman

Ashley Freeman is Head of Islamic Finance at international law firm Charles Russell Speechlys and maintains an office in both London and Bahrain. Between 2001 and 2014, Mr Freeman was General Counsel (Head of Legal) at the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). During his time at the CBB, he was active in many ground-breaking Islamic finance initiatives including serving on the working parties that established the IFSB and IIFM and drafting their founding documents. Mr Freeman’s involvement in the Islamic finance industry however goes back some 20 years having worked on his first Shari’ah-compliant transaction in the City of London in 1994. Mr Freeman is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales (admitted 1995). He holds an MA and BA in Law from Cambridge University where he was President of the Islamic Society in the early 1990s.

Marmore MENA Intelligence Private Limited was established in the year 2010. Marmore is a majority owned subsidiary of Kuwait Financial Centre, Markaz. Marmore offers full-fledged research in asset management and investment banking focussed on Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Established in 2005, DGCX is the region’s first derivatives exchange and the only one allowing participants to clear and settle transactions within the Gulf region. The Exchange has played a pioneering role in developing the regional market for derivatives. DGCX is majority owned by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai, with a mandate to enhance commodity trade flows through the Emirate by providing the appropriate physical, market, financial infrastructure and services required. It is an electronic commodity and currency derivatives exchange with 267 members from across the globe, offering futures and options contracts covering the precious metals, energy and currency sectors.

Other aspects of this agreement include displaying copies of Wealth Monitor at DGCX office and DGCX employees, members and subscribers subscribing Wealth Monitor, among others.


The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) was established on November 15 of the year 2000 by Local Law No. (3) Of 2000, the provisions of which vest the market with a legal entity of autonomous status, independent finance and management. As of August 2015, the ADX has 70 listed securities. Those securities include 65 Public Joint Stock Companies, 2 Private Joint Stock Companies, 1 Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), 1 convertible bond, and 1 Abu Dhabi Government bond. Phillip Futures DMCC, based in Dubai-UAE since 2006, is a leading Broker and Clearing Member of DGCX. The company is part of PhillipCapital, headquartered in Singapore. As per the partnership agreement between Semantics Global Media and Phillip Futures DMCC, both sides agree to have annual subscriptions to the print and digital version of Wealth Monitor by Phillip Futures staff, management and investors.
